In the previous public beta release, I included a utility plug-in called "Bomb Detector", which was designed to sniff out corrupt fonts by running them through some reckless rasterizing routines until a crash occured. Rest assured that that uility will be back, and I have made some progress on it, but it takes a lot of fine-tuning to find the right state of instability, and right now it's just TOO unstable. Ultimately, there will be at least two new utility plug-ins, although they might not be ready by the time Gander 1.6 is finalized, so they'll be made freely available as additions.
Lately, I've gotten involved in other features. Programming is a little like doing a jigsaw puzzle, where the pieces start falling together in one particular corner and you have to keep working on that corner; you can't just jump around from one place to another willy-nilly. Unfortunately, the fruitful "corner" in this project hasn't been very font-related lately. So, I'm afraid I have to report this new feature list:
• Built-in order form, makes it easier for you to send me your money
• Built-in links to website, so you can pay Kagi, who will then send me your money
• Much nicer interface to help you decide just exactly which method you would like to use to send me your money
Well, there are a couple of internal changes also, touching on the print engine code, so it's not totally self-aggrandizing. But I do have one more chore to do on this facet of the program before I can get back to the really technical font stuff.
